It is with heavy hearts that the Theatre Albany community mourns the passing of our long-time director, Mark Costello. Mark came to TA in 1985 and helmed thirty-two successful seasons before his retirement in December 2017.

Under his directorship, the theatre went on to win multiple awards and remain a fixture for performing arts in Albany, Georgia. He encouraged community involvement whether onstage, behind the scenes, on the volunteer side, or from the audience, and he worked tirelessly to make sure the show always went on.

Actors young and old alike learned much about the stage under his knowledge, and the impact he made at Theatre Albany will be remembered for generations to come. Many considered him a friend and many more thought of him as family, a feeling he encouraged for those that found their way to the TA community.

We all await the day we will tread the boards once more with our beloved director. Until then, Rest In Peace, Mark Costello (Theatre Albany Artistic Director 1985-2017).
